Logo Placement: Do’s and Don’ts

Logo PlacementHaving the logo of your business, team or organization custom-embroidered on t-shirts, hats and other apparel is a great way to promote your brand.

When you’re choosing where to place your logo, keep these do’s and don’ts in mind.

Do: Choose the right fabric base. Pick comfortable fabrics that people will want to wear, like cotton or 50/50 blends, in colors that are neutral or that complement the colors in your logo.

Don’t: Pick a shirt or hat in a busy pattern, or in a color that clashes with your logo. You want your log to stand out and look impressive.

Do: Place your logo where people look first. Across the chest, or across the shoulders on the back of the shirt, are where people’s eyes are naturally drawn.

Don’t: Get too creative with logo placement. Try not to put your logo in an unconventional spot, like the side of a hat, since it may not get noticed. Also consider the functionality of a garment—for example, don’t place a logo over a pocket that needs to be usable.

Do: Choose the right logo size. Go big enough that your logo will be noticeable, but not so big that it overwhelms the garment.

Don’t: Go for a logo that’s too big. Bigger doesn’t always mean better: oversized logos can be perceived as obnoxious, and many people aren’t comfortable wearing them, as they tend to draw attention to the stomach.
